Gov’t to take action over findings of report on Rilwan’s case

The Presidential Commission on Deaths and Disappearances has assured that President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih will take action over the findings of the final report into the enforced disappearance of Ahmed Rilwan Abdulla. The commission's members presented their findings to the president at a meeting held at the President's Office.

Member of the Commission Misbah Abbas said the report is only the first step and that three suspects have already been charged over the case. He assured that President Solih will review the new findings and information in the report and take action in the coming days. He added that the report includes detailed information on those responsible for Rilwan’s death, including politicians.

Additionally, Misbah said the commission has completed its investigation and that the relevant authorities will handle the prosecution stage based on the latest findings. He also noted that the knife recovered by investigators has been analysed abroad and valuable information has been discovered. He assured that the information of the report will be kept secret for the trial and future action to be taken by authorities.
