A total of 85 Maldivians have travelled to India to participate in various capacity-building programmes.
The Maldives and India have signed 15 capacity-building agreements in the past four years and 85 Maldivians are set to participate in capacity-building programmes for five sectors scheduled to begin in various Indian cities on December 12.
The High Commission of India to the Maldives stated that the Maldivians include 27 civil servants, 50 judges, and two officials of the Auditor General’s Office participating in a fellowship programme. They also include three police officers and two customs officers participating in narcotics substance and enforcement of drug laws and an official of the Ministry of Education participating in the design, development, and implementation of the e-learning programme.
The Indian High Commission stated that in the past four years 1,800 Maldivians have travelled to India for capacity-building programmes for sectors including civil service and good governance, defence and security, policing, customs, fire and rescue, media, parliament cooperation, judiciary, and audit and finance.
