Maldives joins 2022 WTTC Global Summit

The Maldives has joined the 2022 World Trade and Tourism Council (WTTC) Global Summit in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

Minister of Tourism Dr. Abdulla Mausoom led the Maldivian delegation, which included Ambassador of Maldives to Saudi Arabia Mohamed Khaleel, Permanent Secretary at the Tourism Ministry Fathimath Nilfa, Senior Executive Director Thoyyib Shaheem, and Legal Officer Aminath Shiuna Basheer.

On the sidelines of the summit, Minister Mausoom participated in the Global Leaders Dialogue along with the international travel partners and spoke on the policies of the Government of the Maldives in support of a sustainable future for Maldives tourism. He also met with the Minister of Tourism of Saudi Arabia Ahmed Al-Khateeb and discussed tourism cooperation between the countries.

WTTC Global Summit is the most influential travel and tourism event. At this year’s event, industry leaders gathered with key government representatives to continue aligning efforts to support the tourism sector’s recovery and move beyond to a safer, more resilient, inclusive, and sustainable future. The theme for the 2022 WTTC Global Summit was Travel for a Better Future and brought together people from around the world who aim to solve social, environmental, and economic challenges by creating future sustainable and inclusive growth and shared prosperity.
