MDP election for constituencies be held in December

The main ruling Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) has decided to hold its election for the party’s constituencies on December 17. Interested individuals can submit their candidacy forms before November 16.

The recent amendments to the MDP regulations included changes to the party constituencies. It includes electing a vice president, secretary, women’s secretary, and youth secretary for every constituency with more than one island. It also states that a women’s secretary and youth secretary need to be elected for every constituency in an island with more than one constituency.

The responsibilities of the committees representing the constituencies include building the party at the local level, establishing branches, implementing approved party regulations and policies, and conducting activities to promote the party.
