Supreme Court SG dismissed for spying on judges

Department of Judicial Administration (DJA) has dismissed the Secretary-General of the Supreme Court Dr. Hussain Faiz for spying on judges.

DJA stated that Faiz had violated the code of conduct for judicial employees. The investigation found that Faiz had installed CCTV cameras inside the Supreme Court premises and connected the live feed to his office. He had set up the system for USD13,000 without submitting a statement of requirement, which is required for any work related to security.

DJA stated that Faiz had taken action in a way that eroded trust in the position of the Secretary-General. It stated that an individual in such a senior position is required to act as an example to other employees by acting in an unbiased manner. It stated that Faiz had failed to fulfill his duties by not obeying the instructions of the judges and undermining the trust of employees and the public trust in the judiciary. DJA also highlighted that Faiz was suspended with pay during the period of the investigation.
