Judicial Service Commission (JSC) has taken disciplinary action against Criminal Court Judge Mohamed Sameer for acting with personal prejudice in a case he presided over in the court.
In a statement, JSC revealed action against Judge Sameer was taken after investigating a case submitted claiming he acted against defense lawyers upon personal prejudice. JSC also said he acted against the practiced laws and disciplinary procedures to be followed by a judge. JSC revealed Judge Sameer has been advised against such manners and he will be required to complete a training programme approved by the commission.
Judge Sameer was appointed to the Criminal Court in 2017 and then later appointed to the Drug Court in 2021 at his request.
