The tenth edition of the Hafthaares programme has commenced in Meemu Atoll.
The Hafthaares programme is conducted by the Ministry of Youth, Sports and Community Empowerment, in partnership with the Ministry of Islamic Affairs, the Ministry of Education, the National Counter Terrorism Centre (NCTC), the Islamic University of the Maldives (IUM) and the Maldivian Red Crescent (MRC). The Hafthares programme will continue until October 30.
The tenth edition of the Hafthaares programme will be held in seven islands. As such, the sessions will be held in Mulah, Veyvah, Muli, Dhiggaru, Maduvvaree, Kolhufushi and Naalaafushi. Additionally, awareness sessions will also be conducted for separate communities of the islands including teachers, parents, youth and government institutions.
The aim of the programme is to facilitate the relevant institutions and authorities to come together with the public to work towards resolving social issues and building a resilient society. The youth ministry has conducted five programmes of Hafthaares this year.
