Countries grow by producing academically capable people: Home Minister

Minister of Home Affairs Imran Abdulla has stated countries cannot develop only by the size of their land and population, but by the perfection of their educational ability, hard work, and courage. He made the remark while speaking at the official ceremony held to confer the National Award.

Speaking at the ceremony, Minister Imran said that a country can survive because of the vitality and strength of national love in the hearts of its citizens. He also said it depends on the defense and national sacrifices made by the citizens for the country. He said that it is the most perfect and honorable achievement in the life of a person to be recognised at the national level and rewarded in recognition of the services to the country.

Furthermore, Minister Imran said the Maldives will become a valuable role model to other countries if noble qualities are developed among citizens even if the Maldives is a small country. He said it is the national duty of the current generation to pass on the values of the country to future generations with complete freedom and sovereignty on the basis of the true faith of Islam.
