The Parliamentary Committee on National Security Services has evaluated the conditions at the police detention centres in Addu City.
The committee has met with the Addu City Council, Addu Police Academy, and senior police officers in Addu to evaluate the conditions of the detention centres and the prisons.
During a visit to Addu, Chair of the Committee on National Security Services Mohamed Aslam said the committee members have determined the issues at the detention centres and highlighted that the biggest issue is the lack of resources. He noted the large number of detainees being held with violent criminals.
During the visit, the committee members held discussions with the Addu City Council and the local police on other issues in Addu. The members also observed the ongoing projects in the city.
