President in Kaashidhoo for Farmers’ Day and Food Day activities

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has arrived in Kaashidhoo, Kaafu Atoll, to attend activities held to mark National Farmers’ Day and World Food Day. He declared October 15 as National Farmers’ Day and October 16 is celebrated across the globe as World Food Day.

During the visit, President Solih will attend the official reception and special banquet held to mark the occasion. The reception will be held at the Kaafu Atoll Education Centre. He will also visit an exhibition held at the education centre as part of the activities and meet with the farmers.

Furthermore, President Solih will also hold meetings with the members of the Kaashidhoo Island Council and the Women’s Development Committee (WDC) as part of the visit. He will also visit the health centre on the island.

Before travelling to Kaashidhoo, President Solih visited Sun Island Resort and Spa and watched the games of the ongoing FIVB Beach Pro Tour, Maldives Challenge 2022, which is the highest-ranked sporting event hosted in the Maldives. He will also attend the closing ceremony of the tournament held from October 13-17 featuring world-class players from 28 countries. The tournament is jointly organised by the Ministry of Youth, Sports and Community Empowerment, the International Volleyball Federation and the Volleyball Association of the Maldives (VAM).

President Solih will conclude his visit to Kaashidhoo and return back to Malé City on October 17.
