Vice President visits four islands of Raa Atoll

Vice President Faisal Naseem has visited Inguraidhoo, Innamaadhoo, Vandhoo, and Maakurathu during his official trip to Raa Atoll.

Vice President Naseem was warmly welcomed by the residents upon his arrival to the islands. During the visits, the vice president observed the waste management services in the two islands and inquired about the challenges faced by the health centres, and vowed to provide solutions. He also met with the senior officials of the local offices and organisations.

Vice President Naseem also met with the island councils and women’s development committees (WDCs) and discussed the most pertinent issues. During the meetings, the vice president assured the administration will speak with the relevant authorities to solve the problems and challenges addressed by the members. He said the administration will closely monitor the situation of the islands and continue their development in accordance with the expectations of the residents. He further noted the ongoing projects in the islands and said more projects will commence in the future.

During his visit to Vandhoo, Vice President Naseem observed the waste management service on the island and assured the local officials that the administration will support all efforts to develop sustainable waste management. The waste management site was developed by Waste Management Corporation (WAMCO) with the machinery and equipment to handle unmanageable waste transferred from the islands in Raa Atoll.
