Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) and the Indian Navy have concluded Exercise Ekatha 2022.
Minister of Defence Mariya Ahmed Didi presented the Best Divers award to the recipients at the closing ceremony held at the Headquarters of the MNDF Central Area Command in Kadhdhoo, Laamu Atoll. Additionally, the Chief of Defence Force Major General Abdulla Shamaal presented certificates to the members of the Indian Navy training team that participated in the exercise, while High Commissioner of India to the Maldives Munu Mahawar and Vice Admiral of the Indian Navy M. A. Hampiholi presented certificates to the participating members of the MNDF Marine Corp Special Operations Group.
Senior military officers spoke at the closing ceremony and handed over mementoes commemorating Exercise Ekatha 2022. The weapons that were used during the joint navy exercise were also presented at the ceremony. Those who attended the closing ceremony included Indian Defence Advisor Designate to the Maldives Captain Mahesh C. Moudgil and Deputy Commander of MNDF Central Area Command Lieutenant Colonel Mohamed Faseeh.
A total of 30 marines of MNDF Marine Corps Special Operations Group and 10 marine commandos from the Indian Navy took part in the exercise from September 5 to October 3. The exercise focused on combat shoot, demolition, deviator diving, rebreathing diving, and diving operations.
