The first ever Maldives Tourism Awards have been conferred to 27 individuals.
The Maldives Tourism Awards were presented at an official ceremony held to mark the first National Tourism Day in the Maldives. President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih, Vice President Faisal Naseem, Minister of Tourism Abdulla Mausoom, ministers of state and a number of tourism industry officials attended the prestigious ceremony held in Dharubaaruge' convention centre.
At the ceremony, President Solih conferred the Best Resort Award, Best Guesthouse Award, Best Safari Vessel Award, Best Travel Agency Award, Best Watersports Centre Award, and Best Dive Centre Award to industry professionals.
Meanwhile, Vice President also conferred awards to 21 tourism industry professionals. As such, individuals in the tourism industry were conferred the Promoting Local DJ Award, Promoting Local Musician Award, Promoting Local Performance Award, Utilisating Local Product Award, Best Staff Accommodation Award, and Best Staff Dining Award. Additionally, individuals were presented with the Employee Healthcare and Excellence in Staff Recreation Award, Highest number Female Employee Award, The Resort With The Most Local Employees Award, and Safest Workplace Award. Individuals also won the Career Development Award, Best Staff Dining Experience, Employee Healthcare and Excellence Staff Recreation Award, Highest Maldivian Employers Award, and Best Dining Award.
This year marks the 50th anniversary of tourism in the Maldives.
