President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has revealed that developing an office building for Veyvah Island Council is a high priority for the Local Government Authority (LGA). He made the announcement during a meeting with the island council and the women’s development committee (WDC) members of Veyvah, Meemu Atoll.
At the meeting held at the Secretariat of Veyvah Island Council, President Solih and the island’s representatives engaged in in-depth discussions about addressing the community’s problems and concerns. The council members noted that President Solih was the first to visit the island over the past 10 years and extended their gratitude for the special attention accorded by his administration to the development of the island. They also noted that several development projects initiated by the administration had been completed.
Furthermore, the council members shared with the president the most pertinent needs of the community, including developing a new office building for the council, an ice plant, a new ambulance, and renovation of the jetty on Mulak, used daily by students from Veyvah who study on the adjacent island.
Speaking with the representatives from the island, President Solih assured them the administration would work to find amicable solutions to the concerns raised at the meeting.
