Ministry of National Planning, Housing and Infrastructure has received 7,308 housing applications through the Gedhoruverin portal.
The planning ministry officially launched the new portal on June 26. The portal enables the submission of online applications for housing schemes announced by the government. It is also designed to provide information on the eligibility criteria and policies for housing schemes as well as updates on submitted applications through text or email notifications.
The planning ministry has stated the Gedhoruverin portal can be used to submit applications for the 3,000 land plots under the Binveriyaa housing scheme, and 4,000 housing units under the Gedhoruveriyaa housing scheme. It added the administration aims to award the land plots under the Binveriyaa scheme to its recipients within one year. The deadline for application submission is on September 26.
The land plots under the Binveriyaa scheme will be released from Hulhumale' phase II and Gulhifalhu. Meanwhile, the housing units under the Gedhoruveriyaa scheme will be released from Hulhumale’. The two housing schemes are part of the government’s pledge to resolve the housing difficulties faced by residents of Male’.
The land plots under the Binveriyaa housing scheme will be allocated from a land spanning 3,750,000sqft in Gulhifalhu. The land plot awarded for each application will have a minimum size of 1,250sqft, with 400sqft added per person in a joint application. The maximum size of 4,000sqft will be awarded if seven or more people apply jointly.
Eligibility criteria for the land plots include being a citizen of Male’ over the age of 18 who does not own or is willing to release a land plot in the Greater Male’ Region bigger than 600sqft. Applicants must also not have received any housing units under a previous social housing scheme.
Meanwhile, the eligibility criteria for housing units under the Gedhoruveriyaa scheme include being a citizen of Male’ City over the age of 18, who has registered in or has been living in Male’ for the past 15 years. Applicants must not have received a housing unit under a previous social housing scheme, and must not have purchased a housing unit or land plot bigger than 600sqft in Male’ City.
Although applications have been opened for both schemes through the Gedhoruverin portal, each individual can only apply for one scheme. The details of the eligibility criteria and awarding policies are available at the portal.
