First Lady inaugurates International Joint Conference for Healthcare Professionals

First Lady Fazna Ahmed has inaugurated the International Joint Conference for Healthcare Professionals (IJCHP).

The conference is organised by the Maldivian Nurses Association (MNA) in association with the Evidence Based Practice Health Champions Maldives (EBPHC Maldives). The three-day conference brings together local and international professionals in an effort to stay current on best practices in healthcare systems.

The conference, which is being held from July 18-20 at Bandos Maldives, aims to provide a platform for healthcare professionals in the Maldives and abroad to exchange ideas and discover best practices in healthcare. The theme of the conference is moving from Silos to synergy.

MNA is a non-governmental organisation (NGO) founded in 2007 to support Maldivian Nurses in their practice, professional growth and advocating for quality health care. It is recognised nationally and internationally for promoting excellence in nursing through leadership, research, education, advocacy and sustainable health care practice in collaboration with others to achieve optimum health of the community. This primary commitment to society guides and shapes its efforts to foster ethical and professional nursing standards, promote professional development, incorporate evidence-based practice, contribute to health policy, and enhance professional practice environments.

EBPHC Maldives is a non-profit, non-governmental organisation that was founded in February 2016 and is recognised for the introduction of evidence-based practice (EBP) in the Maldives. The NGO is maintained by nurses and professional personnel who have devoted their voluntary services to implement EBP through research, education, consultation and direct assistance to hospitals and the communities in the Maldives. Its primary mission is to promote EBP in the field of healthcare and it has conducted several programmes across the Maldives, and conduct workshops and training sessions for healthcare professionals and the public.
