Fieldwork begins for construction of mosque in Dhiyamigili

Fieldwork has begun for the construction of a new mosque in Dhiyamigili, Thaa Atoll. The fieldwork was inaugurated by Minister of Islamic Affairs Dr. Ahmed Zahir Ali and President of Dhiyamigili Island Council Ahmed Moosa.

Ministry of Islamic Affairs contracted Aman Maldives Private Limited to develop an air-conditioned mosque in Dhiyamigili to accommodate 300 worshipers at once. The mosque will include a special area dedicated for female worshipers, an ablution area and a storage area. The mosque is designed with an air-conditioning system that uses renewable energy. The company is tasked with completing the project by January next year at a cost of USD570,000.

Mosques are being constructed in various parts of the country as part of the government’s work to expand basic and essential services to all inhabited islands including small communities.
