Judicial Service Commission (JSC) has finalised the appointment of magistrates to three magistrate courts in the atolls.
JSC stated the three magistrates were selected following the review of applications for 10 magistrate positions that were opened for application. As such, JSC revealed magistrates were selected for the magistrate courts of Guraidhoo in Thaa Atoll, Thinadhoo in Gaafu Dhaalu Atoll and Nolhivaram in Haa Dhaalu Atoll.
The magistrate to be appointed to Guraidhoo Magistrate Court is Aishath Ibrahim. She earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Islamic Shariah and Law from Kulliyathul Dhiraasaathil Islamiyya, and Master of Shariah and Law from Villa College. She had served as a public prosecutor at the Prosecutor General’s Office (PGO) for more than four years.
The magistrate to be appointed to Thinadhoo Magistrate Court is Nashathath Zaeema. She earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Islamic Shariah and Law from Kulliyathul Dhiraasaathil Islamiyya. She had served as a public prosecutor at the Prosecutor General’s Office (PGO) for more than six years.
The magistrate to be appointed to Nolhivaram Magistrate Court is Liushad Abdul Sattar. He earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Shariah and Law and Master of Shariah and Law from Villa College, specialising in Criminal Law. He had worked as an attorney at a law firm for more than two years.
The new magistrates will take their oath on August 1.
