Ministry of Islamic Affairs has conducted a training programme for Imams and Khatibs working in Fuvahmulah City.
The training programme was officially inaugurated on June 9 by the Imam of the Islamic Centre Sheikh Nasrullah Ali. The three-day programme is participated by 38 Imams and Khatibs in Fuvahmulah. The Islamic ministry revealed the programme aims to provide information on certain standards and regulations, including the Friday prayer regulations, civil service regulations and the code of conduct. The ministry said participants are also trained in resolving matters which involve scholarly disagreement.
The Islamic ministry said the training is part of a series conducted with the aim of raising the standards of Imams and Khatibs leading congregational prayers in local mosques. The first training programme of this series was held in Male’, after which the second programme was held in Addu City. The current programme underway in Fuvahmulah is the third programme of the series.
