NCCH undertaking survey of Dhiyamigili Ganduvaru

The National Centre for Cultural Heritage (NCCH) has commenced a survey of Dhiyamigili Ganduvaru, to identify the work that needs to be done for the conservation, restoration, and repair of the building.

The restoration of Dhiyamigili Ganduvaru is undertaken as part of the High-Impact Community Development Project (HICDP) funded by the Government of India. NCCH revealed the initial survey aims to identify the level of work needed at the site under the restoration project.

Dhiyamigili Ganduvaru is a historical monument in Dhiyamigili, Thaa Atoll that dates back to the 18th century. It used to be a royal palace that belonged to the Dhiyamigili dynasty that ruled the country between 1704 and 1757.

In addition to the Dhiyamigili Ganduvaru, the Maabudhuge monument in Landhoo, Noonu Atoll will also be restored and conserved under the HICDP. The Indian government is providing a grant of USD337,000 for the two projects.
