MTCC begins physical works of Faresmaathoda Causeway Project

Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) has commenced physical works of the causeway project in Faresmaathoda, Gaafu Dhaalu Atoll.

The Faresmaathoda Causeway Project would link the Faresmaathoda Airport with the main island. The project is undertaken separately with the airport development project, with MTCC aiming to complete both projects by July.

The causeway project involves constructing an 800m long link between Faresmaathoda Airport and the main island. An area of 19,200sqm is set to be reclaimed as part of the project, with a 120m revetment to be constructed as shore protection of the reclaimed area.

Faresmaathoda Airport is being developed to cater to domestic flights. MTCC was contracted to complete the project at a cost of about USD10 million.
