Housing Development Corporation (HDC) has stated power will be supplied to the flats built by State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs) in Hulhumale’ Phase II by September.
HDC stated the development of the power distribution network in Hulhumale’ Phase II is carried out by Browns-CMEC, with support from State Electric Company Limited (STELCO). As such, HDC revealed STELCO is providing technical consultancy for the project, and approving the network layouts proposed by the contractor. HDC said STELCO is currently reviewing the design of the network, while the contractor is carrying out the construction of the main substation.
Furthermore, HDC stated discussions are being held with STELCO to provide electricity services to the SOE flats before the flats are handed over to recipients. HDC revealed the services are expected to be established by September.
Hulhumale’ Phase II was first populated in 2020 when owners of land plots first sold in the area began moving into their new homes. The population of the area began increasing sharply when recipients of the 6,720 housing units developed under the Hiya housing project began moving into their flats last year. The power distribution network in Hiya flats was also developed by Browns-CMEC, with STELCO providing electricity services to the flats.
