Home Minister urges youth to become proactive

Minister of Home Affairs Imran Abdulla has stated that the youth needs to accept personal responsibility and become proactive. He made the remarks while speaking at the closing ceremony of the Youth Leaders Forum in Milandhoo, Shaviyani Atoll.

Speaking at the closing ceremony, Minister Imran said the key to progress in life is to accept personal responsibility and take action instead of waiting for others, while also completing the work that has been neglected and expressing gratitude towards those who are taking action. He said that those who wish to be leaders should also be able to accept responsibility and work on issues that are not being done adequately.

Furthermore, Minister Imran said wisdom is attained when individuals learn to acquire knowledge and pick out that which is most important. He highlighted that participants at the Youth Leaders Forum had the opportunity to learn from professionals, and expressed hope that they will put the newfound knowledge to good use in their communities.

The Youth Leaders Forum was organised by the Youth Leaders Network, which was established by the Ministry of Home Affairs with representatives for college and university students. Over 1,000 youth from 13 islands in Shaviyani Atoll participated in the forum, which was held from May 19-21 in Milandhoo. The participants noted the success of the forum and assured they will use what they have learned to become leaders and problem-solvers in their communities.
