Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) has resumed the ferry service for Zone 3 atolls, which was suspended due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
MTCC had been providing ferry services linking Zone 3, which includes Kaafu Atoll, Alifu Alifu Atoll, Alifu Dhaalu Atoll and Vaavu Atoll, to Male’ before the service had to be suspended due to the COVID-19 situation in the country. MTCC said the ferry service between Zone 3 and Male’ has been resumed on May 15. MTCC added the Henveiru Ferry Terminal, used for Male’-Hulhumale’ and Male’-Hulhule’ ferries, will be used for the Zone 3 ferry service.
MTCC is also providing ferry services within nine other atolls under its Comprehensive Transport service. In addition, the company has launched the Raajje Transport Link (RTL) ferry service in Zone 1 of the Integrated National Public Ferry Network (INPFN), which includes Haa Alifu Atoll, Haa Dhaalu Atoll and Shaviyani Atoll.
