Cable junction burying for Kudahuvadhoo road project ongoing

Road Development Corporation (RDC) has revealed the installation of cable junctions is underway in the road development project in Kudahuvadhoo, Dhaalu atoll.

Ministry of National Planning, Housing and Infrastructure contracted RDC to complete the second phase of road development in Kudahuvadhoo in September 2021. As part of the second phase, RDC is tasked with tarring 5.85km of road in Kudahuvadhoo as well as establishing a drainage system and installing street lights. RDC is tasked with completing the project within one year and 80 days at a cost of USD7.9 million.

Funds for the project were allocated for the road development project in the State Budget 2020 after President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih pledged to develop the roads during a visit to the island in 2019. President Solih said Kudahuvadhoo will be developed as an urban centre as part of the development plan of the government.

The equipment required for the project was transported to Kudahuvadhoo in March this year. RDC said it is working on installing cable junctions before working on pavements and the drainage system.

The first phase of the road development project commenced in Kudahuvadhoo in 2013 with 13 roads developed by 2015.
