Police Post established in Vaikaradhoo

Minister of Home Affairs Imran Abdulla has opened a police post in Vaikaradhoo, Haa Dhaalu Atoll.

During a special ceremony, Minister Imran raised the Maldivian flag at the police post and Commissioner of Police Mohamed Hameed raised the flag of the Maldives Police Service (MPS).

Speaking at the ceremony, Minister Imran said that the police post was established with the help of the institutions and residents of Vaikaradhoo, and noted that it has been positively received by the locals. He said that expanding the MPS to the atolls and improving the police service will allow all citizens to live in peace and security.

Also at the ceremony, Commissioner Hameed highlighted the importance of establishing police services in all inhabited islands to combat the high number of criminal activities on some islands such as Vaikaradhoo. He said police officers will work to deal with criminal cases and social issues that arise on the island and establish a peaceful community, adding that the highest priority of MPS is to establish a peaceful society that will last for generations.

After the ceremony, Minister Imran and Commissioner Hameed took a tour of the police post along with senior police officers, local council members, and senior members of the community.
