Pay harmonisation to increase wages in all sectors

Ministry of Finance has stated that the government’s work for pay harmonisation will increase wages in all sectors.

In a press statement, the finance ministry stated that the wages of employees in all sectors will receive an increase once pay harmonisation is completed. The ministry noted that President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih aims to increase wages in all sectors of the state and that the work has begun with salary increments for teachers.

Furthermore, the finance ministry stated that the government has prioritised formulating a pay framework for the state as part of its strategic action plan and that the implementation of the framework will bring significant positive changes to employee salaries and benefits. It added that the work to formulate the framework is being conducted under a special process that includes evaluations and budgeting. Additionally, the statement cited Minister of Finance Ibrahim Ameer as saying that the pay harmonisation will include university lecturers and reiterated President Solih’s assurance that the pay harmonisation efforts will include improving the salary structure for the health sector.

In a televised address to the nation on May 1, President Solih announced a new and improved salary structure for the education sector, unveiling significant increments to the wages of teachers and other education sector staff. The president said it marks a significant step in the administration’s commitment to ensuring better wages for all in the workforce that contribute toward national progress. He detailed the administration’s efforts at pay harmonisation across the board and said that studies required to draw up the new salary structure for health sector workers are currently underway. He noted that completion of the pay harmonisation efforts will improve wages across all sectors.
