Maldives Transport and Contracting Company has revealed the paving materials required for the Fuvahmulah Internal Roads Project have been acquired and transported to the site.
The project to develop 31 roads in Fuvahmulah City with asphalt paving, sidewalks, cable junctions and a stormwater management system began in 2020. The project contractor MTCC revealed installation of the stormwater management system, cable junctions, sidewalks and curbs have been completed in most roads. However, MTCC noted there have been delays in commencing the paving works due to delays in the arrival of the required materials.
MTCC revealed the materials required to begin paving works have now arrived in Fuvahmulah. As such, the state-owned company said the aggregates and binders required for the Aggregate Base Course (ABC) layer of the roads have now been transported to the site.
The road development project in Fuvahmulah aims to resolve the long-standing issues of flooding and potholes in the roads of the city. The roads being developed under this project are the main internal roads used by residents of Fuvahmulah. The cost of the project is USD21.4 million.
