Revenue from imports and exports increase

Maldives Customs Service has revealed the revenue generated from imports and exports have increased in February this year.

The revenue from imports and exports increased 27% in February 2022 compared to February 2021. As such USD21 was generated as revenue in February this year, which is an increase compared to the USD16.5 million generated in February last year.

Customs said goods worth USD246 million were imported to the Maldives in February this year, which is an increase of 39% compared to the goods worth USD174 million imported in 2021. Meanwhile, goods worth USD20 million were exported in February this year, which is an increase of 29% compared to the goods worth USD15 million exported in 2021.

The highest number of goods were imported to the Maldives from Oman, UAE, India and China and the highest number of exports were to Thailand, the UK, Germany, India and France.
