Community Eco Park developed in Molhadhoo

Bank of Maldives (BML) has financed the development of the Community Eco Park in Molhadhoo, Haa Alifu Atoll, under its community fund initiative.

The Community Eco Park project focuses on increasing awareness and encouraging visitors to experience the natural beauty of the area while helping preserve it for future generations. The Community Eco Park is designed with a viewing platform and is equipped with solar lighting, benches, and a seating area with waste bins to create an area that is relaxing and environmentally sustainable.

The non-governmental organisation (NGO) Chill Bros stated the project was carried out to strengthen local tourism on the island and create a way for visitors to experience the natural beauty of the island. The NGO stated it hopes the space is beneficial for everyone in the community.

The community fund is an initiative of BML to empower individuals to contribute to their communities through sustainable projects. The fund supports projects in the thematic areas of education, environment, sports, and community development. The national bank stated it is currently evaluating the proposals received for the first quarter of this year.
