Ministry of Finance has sought a contractor to build 78 housing units in Dhihdhoo, Haa Alifu Atoll.
USD 24,604 is required as bid security for the 75 housing units in Dhidhdhoo and the bid is scheduled to open on November 31, according to the finance ministry. The government has previously constructed 250 housing units in Dhidhdhoo.
Housing projects with the assistance of the government are being carried out in islands with housing issues and constraints in land space. As such, projects are currently underway to develop flats and row houses in six islands of the atolls.
Moreover, projects to build housing units in seven islands were announced last month. The ministry has issued tender seeking contractors for 400 housing units in Kulhudhuffushi City, 50 housing units in Milandhoo in Shaviyani Atoll, 30 housing units in Holhudhoo and 40 housing units in Manadhoo in Noonu Atoll, 100 housing units to be built in Hinnavaru in Lhaviyani Atoll, 100 housing units in Gan in Laamu Atoll and 50 housing units in Villingili in Gaafu Alifu Atoll.
More than 2,000 housing units are currently being constructed to solve the housing issues faced by the atolls.
