Ministry of Arts, Culture and Heritage has issued an announcement seeking contractors for the second phase of the project to redevelop and upgrade the Olympus cinema in Male’.
The project to upgrade Olympus is carried out under the grant aid extended by the Government of India for High Impact Community Development Projects (HICDPs). The second phase of the project involves modernising the technical facilities at Olympus. As such, the project involves installation of projectors, surround sound systems, acoustic panels and floor carpets in the hall and rehearsal rooms of Olympus. Submission of proposals for the project will take place between March 9 and 10.
Olympus is a historic building located in Male' City that has premiered numerous movies from the local film industry. The cinema has seen numerous renovations since it opened in 1959 and has continued to face issues of wear and tear due to the age of the building.
