China grants equipment to develop ICT infrastructure of MPS

The Government of China has granted USD 150,000 worth of equipment for the development of Information Communication Technology (ICT) infrastructure at Maldives Police Service (MPS).

The grant agreement was signed on February 23 by Commissioner of Police (CP) Mohamed Hameed and the Ambassador of China to the Maldives Wang Lixin. The equipment granted under the agreement is worth over USD 150,000.

Speaking at the signing ceremony, Ambassador Wang Lixin noted law enforcement is one of the areas where China places a high priority in extending assistance to the Maldives. She expressed hope the new equipment will help to build the ICT capacity of MPS and boost law enforcement operations. She added China will continue to assist MPS in building resources and capacity in the future.

Speaking at the ceremony, CP Hameed said the equipment donated by China will help to expand the services of MPS in accordance to the operational and corporate priorities set for the upcoming years. He thanked the Chinese government for its continued assistance to the development of resources at MPS.
