HPA allows travel to islands without PCR testing

Health Protection Agency (HPA) has stated travellers will no longer be required to take PCR tests when travelling from the Greater Male' Region to the atolls.

HPA has eased the COVID-19 measures put in place after the Omicron variant was reported in the Maldives. As such, the health agency has revoked the ban on gatherings and events in the Greater Male' Region and the ban on spectators at sports events. However, events are still required to adhere to the COVID-19 guidelines and no change has been made to the rule on wearing masks in public in the Greater Male' Region.

Statistics from HPA showed COVID-19 cases increased at the start of the year with a daily average of 1,000 cases. The statistics show a total of 165,000 individuals have been found positive for COVID-19 in the Maldives with 149,000 recoveries.
