Maldives Police Service (MPS) has held a community engagement forum with shop owners registered in Male' City.
The forum was held by the MPS Central Policing Command to discuss the concerns related to various crimes affecting the shop owners. MPS stated the main focus of the forum was to find ways to resolve and prevent crimes against businesses. As such, attendants were informed on the methods criminals use to break in or steal from shops and how police officers investigate such crimes.
At the forum, senior police officers gave details on their current investigations and on the items recovered from the crime scenes. The officers provided information on ways that shop owners could secure their businesses to prevent theft and on how to protect themselves after closing their shops. Discussions were also held to increase cooperation on solving the various issues faced by the shop owners.
Heads of police stations and senior police officers joined the forum along with over 30 shop owners.
