The Auditor General’s Office has established its Information Systems Department in Addu City
The Information Systems Department was officially inaugurated during a ceremony held at the South Regional Office of the Auditor General’s Office on February 21. The ceremony was attended by Auditor General Hussain Niyazi and Addu City Mayor Ali Nizar.
Speaking at the ceremony, Auditor General Niyazi stated this is the first such department established outside the Greater Male’ Region. The auditor general stated the decision to establish the department in Addu was based on the infrastructure available in the city and the benefits it would bring to state finances. He noted the maintenance and operation of information systems had previously been carried out at unit level, adding the expansion of the unit to a department will help to broaden the scope of its work.
Meanwhile, Addu City Mayor Ali Nizar said the establishment of such a department in Addu would help to improve the services provided by state authorities in the southern region. He noted the Addu City Council is also introducing new systems to provide efficient services to the public, and expressed hope the Auditor General’s Office would assist the city council in strengthening the systems.
