Ministry of Tourism has revealed 35 international airlines are currently operating flights to the Maldives.
Following the commencement of international flights after the COVID-19 lockdown in 2020, the Maldives has been connected directly by direct flights from all over the world. As such, there are currently 35 international airlines operating flights to the Maldives, including several airlines from Europe, the Middle East, and Asia.
As per statistics, 33 airlines operated to the Maldives earlier this year which includes 23 scheduled airlines and 10 charter airlines. The number of airlines operating is expected to increase in the coming days. The tourism ministry recorded 171,982 tourists arrivals to the Maldives so far this year, which is an increase of 43.2% compared to the 119,501 tourists arrivals during the same period last year.
The highest number of tourist arrivals to the Maldives were from Russia in January 2022, according to the statistics.
