Gov't begins renovation of Kaadedhdhoo harbour

Ministry of National Planning, Housing, and Infrastructure has commenced the renovation of the harbour in Kaadedhdhoo, Gaafu Dhaalu Atoll.

The ministry began the renovations after a large part of the harbour broke off on January 21. Speaking to PSM News, State Minister for National Planning, Housing, and Infrastructure Akram Kamaludeen said the renovation of the harbour began immediately in order to solve the inconvenience faced by the residents and travellers to the island. He said a survey is being conducted in the damaged area and the harbour will be renovated within two weeks.

The planning ministry is working with Regional Airports Company Limited and Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) to renovate and further develop the harbour.

Kaadedhdhoo consists of one of the most important airports in the southern region, which was developed 28 years ago. The harbour was developed in the same year as the airport in Kaadedhdhoo.
