New mosque to be developed in Hulhumale' phase II

Ministry of Islamic Affairs has signed an agreement with the Housing Development Corporation (HDC) to develop a new mosque in Hulhumale' Phase II. The agreement was signed by the Minister of Islamic Affairs Dr. Ahmed Zahir and the Managing Director of HDC Suhail Ahmed.

The mosque was designed by the HDC and will be developed by the Islamic ministry. HDC stated the mosque will be developed on a land plot measuring 30,000sqft near the Hiyaa Flats and will be able to accommodate 1,400 to 3,000 worshippers.

Currently, Hulhumale' Phase II consists of a mosque developed by a private contractor which can accommodate 480 to 650 worshippers.

Hulhumale' Phase II also consists of a temporary mosque established by the government, which can accommodate around 600 worshippers.
