President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has described the passing of the late Umar Zahir as a loss to the nation, highlighting his remarkable service record spanning over 49 years.
Signing the book of condolences in the memory of the late Umar Zahir, a state dignitary and honouree of the Order of the Distinguished Rule of Izzuddin, President Solih acknowledged Umar Zahir as an exemplary leader who respected his staff.
Noting the significant contributions to the development and progress of the nation, the president wrote that the late Umar Zahir remained sincere and devoted in his service to the nation. In his message, the president penned down that the late Umar Zahir oversaw the successful completion of numerous government projects at a time of limited resources.
He concluded his message by praying to Almighty Allah (SWT) to grant the late Umar Zahir's soul eternal peace in Jannah.
The late Umar Zahir, 85, passed away on December 20, 2021.
