Gov't Receives Benelux Stamp set for Golden Jubilee year of tourism

Ministry of Tourism has received souvenir plaques of the Benelux stamp set launched to celebrate the upcoming golden jubilee year of tourism in the Maldives.

The souvenir plaques, which consist of three stamps from Belgium, Netherlands, and Luxemburg, contain the official logo representing 50 years of tourism in the Maldives. Minister of Tourism Dr. Abdulla Mausoom received the souvenir plaques from Benelux, which is a politico-economic union consisting of the three western European countries.

The tourism ministry launched the commemorative stamps to celebrate the upcoming golden jubilee year of tourism in the Maldives. The stamps were launched with courtesy of the Benelux-Maldives Friendship Society and are currently being used in the Benelux Union.

Tourism Minister Mausoom said the launch of the Belgium stamp makes the celebration of the golden jubilee year of Maldives tourism an international event and that all Maldives tourism industry leaders are involved in celebrating the golden jubilee.

Maldives Post Limited has stated it will launch its own commemorative stamp for the upcoming golden jubilee year in February.

The Maldives tourism industry was launched in 1972 with the opening of Kurumba Maldives Resort.
