Chartered flights doubled from pre-COVID-19 figures: MACL

Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL) has revealed the number of chartered flights operating to Velana International Airport (VIA) have doubled compared to the figures recorded before the COVID-19 pandemic.

In a tweet, MACL noted 8 airlines are operating chartered flights to VIA, with another two airlines to commence chartered flights very soon. MACL noted the current figures are more than double the amounts recorded prior to COVID-19, noting this will have a positive impact on tourism across the nation.

As per the latest statistics, Air Astana is currently the leading chartered flight operator to the Maldives. The airline has carried 14,490 passengers on 190 chartered flights so far this year.
