CEO of Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) Adam Azim has stated the hard work of dedicated employees has opened a new wave of national development. He made the remarks in his address at the ceremony held to celebrate the 41st anniversary of the state-owned company.
Speaking at the ceremony, CEO Azim praised President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih and the government for assisting the company in becoming a leader in all the respective industries. Azim said the key to the success of MTCC is the talented, dedicated, and passionate employees who have served to accomplish its targets. He said the employees are united under a culture of discipline, respect, social responsibility and collaboration, and thanked the employees for working to fulfill the pledges of the government.
Furthermore, CEO Azim said MTCC had a workforce of 1,500 employees in 2018 and that it has now doubled the workforce. He said it has resulted in the timeline for the completion of projects, such as harbour development being reduced from three years to one, and airport development projects being reduced from three years to 18 months. He said MTCC is currently conducting a record number of projects and receiving a record amount in revenue.
He detailed that MTCC had 25 active projects in 2018 and is now conducting 94 projects, adding the company saw the best financial performance in its history in 2020. He assured MTCC will continue to develop the company and its human resources and will undertake major projects such as the development of bridges, international dockyards, and high-speed ferry services in the future.
