Singapore Airlines increases frequency of flights to the Maldives

Singapore Airlines has increased the frequency of its flight operations to the Maldives.

Singapore Airlines announced the frequency of flights between Singapore and the Maldives has been increased following the decision by the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS) to include the Maldives in its Vaccinated Travel Lane (VTL). Under the VTL, fully vaccinated travellers are allowed to enter Singapore without quarantine and would just need to undergo COVID-19 testing.

Following the decision, Singapore Airlines has announced flights between Male’ and Singapore will be increased from 7 flights per week to 10 flights per week, starting from January 2, 2022.

Maldivians travelling to Singapore are required to register at a special portal beforehand. Under the VTL, Maldivians who received a COVID-19 digital vaccine certificate from Health Protection Agency (HPA) will be able to travel on the designated VTL flights, after they receive a negative COVID-19 test within 48 hours before travel.

Prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, many Maldivians travelled to Singapore frequently for vacation, business and medical purposes. Several Maldivians also reside in Singapore for various purposes.
