Tourist arrivals surpass 1.2 million

The statistics of the Ministry of Tourism has shown the tourist arrivals have surpassed 1.2 million.

The statistics show that 1,212,528 tourists arrived in the Maldives as of December 11. This is an increase of 151% compared to last year, and a 23.5% increase compared to the same period of 2019. The Maldives recorded 1.58 million tourist arrivals in the same period of 2019.

The Maldives has recorded over 100,000 arrivals from July onwards.

As per statistics, the most number of tourist arrivals was recorded in November with 144,725 arrivals. The largest number of tourist arrivals were recorded from India, which makes up 22.6% of the total arrivals.

The Maldives is currently recording an average of 4,989 tourists per day.
