Police service inaugurated in Gaafaru

Maldives Police Service (MPS) has inaugurated its services in Gaafaru, Kaafu Atoll.

The newly built police post in Gaafaru was officially inaugurated by Minister of Home Affairs Imran Abdulla and Commissioner of Police Mohamed Hameed. Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, Home Minister Imran said the introduction of police services in Gaafaru is in line with President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih's pledge to introduce police services in all inhabited islands of the country by 2023. He noted the expansion of police service is essential to maintain law and order and establish peace and harmony in the nation.

Following the inauguration of police services in Gaafaru, the new police post on the island was visited by President Solih and Vice President Faisal Naseem. The president also signed the book of dignitaries at the Gaafaru police post.

With the establishment of the Gaafaru police post, police services have now been established in all inhabited islands of Kaafu Atoll apart from Dhiffushi. Home Minister Imran revealed police services will begin in Dhiffushi next year.
