ECM grants permission to form National Integration Party

Elections Commission of the Maldives (ECM) has granted permission to form a new political party called the National Integration Party.

The permission to form National Integration Party was granted to Mohamed Yaseen from Addu City Hulhudhoo. He recently had an application to form a party called United Suvadive Party rejected by ECM, due to its name being linked to a specific region of the country.

There are currently 11 political parties registered in the Maldives. However, only three parties have the required membership to receive funds from the state budget.
