51 of 71 staff at Kudakudhinge Hiya transferred to other jobs

Ministry of Gender, Family and Social Services has revealed 51 of the 71 staff at the children’s shelter home Kudakudhinge Hiya have been transferred to other jobs, following the termination of the facility’s services.

The gender ministry noted some staff at Kudakudhinge Hiya have been made redundant following the government’s decision to terminate the services at the facility and transfer all children at the facility to new shelter homes established in the atolls. The ministry said 51 of the 71 staff at the facility have been transferred to other jobs in the government. The ministry said redundancy notice has been sent to the remaining 20 staff on December 1.

Kudakudhinge Hiya is one of the main children’s shelters established in the Greater Male’ Region. The government has decided to close the facility and transfer the children housed at the facility to new homes built in the atolls.
