Active COVID-19 cases in atolls exceed 1,000

Health Emergency Operation Centre (HEOC) has revealed the number of active cases of COVID-19 in the atolls is currently above 1,000.

Speaking at a press conference held on November 24, Abdulla Mauroof from the Atoll Cluster of HEOC stated the number of COVID-19 cases has increased in November, with the majority of cases reported in the atolls. Mauroof noted there are currently 1,136 active cases of COVID-19 across 69 different islands in the atolls. He added there are currently 19 islands under monitoring.

HEOC has urged the public to exercise caution against the spread of COVID-19 in the coming days, especially with school holidays approaching. HEOC also urged all individuals with COVID-19 symptoms to get tested and ensure the spread of the disease is controlled.
