VP departs on official visit to Bangladesh

Vice President Faisal Naseem has departed on an official visit to Bangladesh.

Vice President Naseem is scheduled to visit several strategic institutions and will call on various senior representatives and key stakeholders during the visit to Bangladesh.

The vice president will meet with cabinet ministers from the government of Bangladesh during the trip, including Minister of Foreign Affairs A. K Abdul Momen, Minister of Expatriate's Welfare and Overseas Employment Imran Ahmad, and Minister of Education Dr. Dipu Moni. He will also call on President of Bangladesh Md. Abdul Hamid at the Bangladeshi Presidential Palace. Vice President Naseem will conclude his trip and return to the Maldives on November 24.

He is accompanied on this trip by a delegation of cabinet ministers and high-level officials from the President's Office and the Government of the Maldives.

The Maldives has made efforts to further strengthen relations with the neighbouring country. As such, both countries have provided assistance to overcome the COVID-19 pandemic and increased cooperation in key areas such as the tourism sector.

Additionally, President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih made a state visit to Bangladesh in March this year.
